A Mass marriage ceremony by Vanabasi Kalyan Ashram, Uttarbang

Many people  might  know about the heartful effort of Akhil Bharatia Vanabasai Kalyan Ashram to uplift our tribal society living in the vast hilly-mountain and forest of our motherland with a large number of more than 8 crore of population since our organisation has been started at Jaspurnagar of the then Madhyapradesh (at present Chattisgarh) in 1952 officially.

A mass marriage ceremony has been held of our janajati (Tribal) brethren who are living as husband and wife with their children though they have not officially got married for very poor and backward condition both socially and economically.
By the joint effort of Vanabasai Kalyan Ashram, Uttarbang and reputed social activists of Siliguri area , the ceremony has been organised here at Birsa Sishu Siksha Kendra, Salbari Compound from 10 A.M. onwards on 10th may, 2015.

Sri Jagdev rao Oraon, All India President of Vanabasi Kalyan Ashram described vividly about the necessity and sacredness of official marriage ceremony in all our social system from very ancient time before the mass marriage. A total of 101 pair got married according to the rituals of the society with yagna and haban also. Every pair has given gift as Joutuk by the organisers as their useful daily live. Sri S S Aluwalia, the local Member of Parliament also present on the dias and inaugurated the three insurance scheme offered the central government and first started by the officials of Central Bank and assistant zonal manager and his stuff in a separate stall. As many as more than four thousand people attended these very mass marriage ceremony and most of them were janajati people of all ages who came in a festive mood with their traditional dress and band also.
