'Cow killing is not sanctioned' By Dr Hafeez Pasha

Islam is a modern and flexible religion which always teaches its followers the philosophy of peaceful co-existence, tolerance and harmony. The basic tenets of Islam and fundamental principles have been divided as “Huquq Allah” and “Huquq Al ibad” (God rights and human rights). These two rights form the basic teachings of Islam. God rights relate to namaz, roza, haj and zakat (five times prayer, fasting in the month of ramzan, pilgrimage to Mecca and alms giving to the poor). Human rights include family rights, neighbour rights and nation rights.

An empty promise

IMPHAL, Oct 27 : The Government of India’s initiative to ensure 12 LPG refills in a year to every DBTL consumer remains an empty promise in Manipur.
There is no prohibition for consumers to use additional LPG refills in a year if they need additional refills. But there is no provision for any extra refill other than the subsidized 12 refills of 14.2 Kg capacity guaranteed by the Government of India.
The number of 12 refills in a year was fixed by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) after studying its feasibility.

Faced with an acute shortage of water and energy resources to meet the needs of a burgeoning population, China has turned to exploit the Tibetan rivers and is now in a damming spree in the Brahmaputra river (Yarlung Tsangpo) to fulfil its increasing needs. Hence after constructing the two inter-linking canals, the eastern and the central routes, to transfer water from the water endowed south to the arid northern areas in 2014, it has operationalised  recently the Zangmu project, the largest hydropower facility located in the middle reaches of the river, raising concerns for India.

What is the common between dismissed IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, self-styled activist Teesta Setalvad and the writers who have relinquished Sahitya Akademi Awards or quit the Akademi? They all indulged in a well-orchestrated campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, by spreading canards, which ultimately aims at defaming India.

Let’s cut straight to the award-returnee writers. When I was writing the piece, the award wapsi score reached 33. Five more writers have quit the Sahitya Akademi. Some more will follow suit.

Tarun Vijay on the secular protocol

The anthem of our togetherness
By : Tarun Vijay
Nothing makes a nation liveable than the feeling of togetherness found in its constituents. There is no joy like being together and no pain like being hit by hateful extremists. Absence of togetherness made India partitioned. After centuries of subjugation and a continuous glorious saga of resistance against the foreign invaders, we have a freedom that rests on one factor- how best can we safeguard the fabric of our togetherness, surpassing and defeating challenges and hurdles that make our onward journey difficult. Thats the anthem we cherish, thats the song that binds us together, thats why Sartaj inspires with his ‘Saare Jahan Se Acchha Hindostan Hamara’!!
